The film continues the story of teenage Billy Batson (Asher Angel) who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!” is transformed into his adult Superhero alter ego, Shazam (Zachary Levi).
Black Adam vs. Shazam!
Is Black Adam a part of the SHAZAM Universe you do know that SHAZAM was said throughout that film when it was released a few months back yet there was NO MENTION at all whatsoever about that in this film. Was I the only one who picked up on that – or did you? I just wanted to throw that out there! I can’t say that I was itching to see this sequel because I was never really a fan of the SHAZAM films; I have only watched them because I love to laugh and Zachary Levi soars in this role (no pun intended). So, I gave the first one a shot and loved it and did the same for this one and it did not disappoint. THAT IS MY TOTAL 100% HONEST OPINION ON HOW I FEEL ABOUT THESE 2 MOVIES!
Billy Batson or Shazam?!?!?
The movie did have a most valuable lesson that I would like to expound on because as you all know, I pride myself on pulling the main objective of every film that I watch and write to you all about in my reviews about what I feel that main objective or point of the film is – or was. In this case, it was about …FAMILY. Plain and simple. Billy Batson was brilliant, kind, intelligent, and such a caring young man who was an orphan a couple housed him and he was only a few months away from again out of the Foster Care System.
Family. That’s Always Wanted Billy Wanted! Always!!
He was terrified that they would no longer have the necessary resources to house and take care of him and he would have to leave and be on his own and leave what he called his family which was his friends whom he gave Superpowers to and also lived with. You know, it is very true when people say that just because people are your blood, that doesn’t mean that they are your true family. DNA. All of the genetics, etc. It does not matter. I agree with that 10x and infinity. Sure, we all have biological parents, and if they elect to give their children up for whatever reason; good or bad, or abandon us – and someone else comes along and can give that child the life that they could not – that is a blessing in itself!
Blood Doesn’t Make A SHAZAM Family – The Power of LOVE Does That!
And if that parent gave their child up because they are being selfless and know they cannot support, provide, etc. —THEN I SAY THAT PERSON IS A DAMN SUPERHERO THEMSELVES because they have the knowledge and inner strength to do the most courageous and powerful act any human being can ever do and that is to give your flesh and blood up so that they could have a life that you want to give them yourself, but you know that you cannot.
Trav’s Conclusions
Again, there is that word – FAMILY. A family will stick with you no matter what; they will walk WITH you and not behind you; they will hold your hand; uplift you when you are down; encourage you and motivate you; support you; love you; and they will also be your ride or die. Didn’t Billy’s family do all of these things when you think back to the first film and in this one, if you saw the film before or after reading this review I never give spoilers! I had not seen Lucy Liu in a big motion picture film since I didn’t know when so to see her on the Big Screen again, I was very excited! I kept thinking about Elementary and Charlie’s Angels. No joke! LOL!! Helen Mirren portrayed her part exceptionally well as one of the Sister Gods, but will you be able to guess who the 3rd oldest Sister God is because there were 3…
You know me by now lol. I’m not a comic book / superhero film follower. I know lots of friends are! Thank Travis!
Yes, I’m aware – but you’re still in my VIP List of people to send the reviews too!
Always sends to me, tag me… It could be the biggest stink bomb of a movie and I’ll retweet! LOL
I do! Always and forever! 💖💖💖
