What’s “Haunted Mansion” About?

A single mom named Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) hires Ben (LaKeith Stanfield), a tour guide, a psychic (Tiffany Haddish), a Priest (Owen Wilson), and a historian (Danny DeVito) to help exercise her newly bought mansion after discovering ghosts inhabit it!

A Haunted Mansion …Indeed!

This was indeed a family-friendly haunting of a movie. Disney. Comical. Definitely movie worth it. Made for the big screen. Made for families. I enjoyed the fact that this film had an all-star stellar cast and that it was led by Actress Rosario Dawson and the young actor playing her son- the name of her son was my real name – Travis. That was epic and cool to me! The film was filmed in New Orleans where I live as well so I feel that this film haunted me in some strange way. LOL! You will enjoy watching this movie because it brings us into the 21st Century with the way we react in Society today rather than reacting in a “scripted way” to the things that everyone witnessed in the Haunted Mansion.

Madame Leota & Harriet Bring The Haunted Mansion Comedy!

Casting Tiffany Haddish in any film will guarantee bunches of laughs because this girl is a comedy genius! Haddish provided so much humor in the movie that it is not even funny! Sure, there were some serious scenes in the film with the character of Ben where what he was going through with his wife was NOT funny at all so no humor was needed at all; but when that was not the case, Harriet was on point with making sure the audience was laughing and keeping us very well entertained! When Jamie Lee Curtis was introduced in her crystal ball and when she said how much it would cost them in the house to hear her tell them what made the mansion haunted in the first place and how all of this began was funny as all hell!

New Beginnings  …in the Haunted Mansion?

Gabbie and Travis had a new beginning in New Orleans …in this mansion that she felt was going to be the start of something wonderful; but she was wrong – DEAD WRONG! Have you ever said or wondered to yourself this very question: “I keep wanting to leave this place, but, something or someone keeps pulling me back here?” That is what the mansion did to Gabbie, Ben, Harriet, the Priest, and the Historian. It sucked them back once they went it; like a trap. In life we all make choices and those choices can affect our entire life and any future choices that we make regardless of whether we are believers or not. There was a ghost in the house that feeds on guilt-stricken pain and only one of them had that. STRENGTH IS ALWAYS what is needed to prevail and overcome! ALWAYS! This Haunted Mansion knew what it was doing and who it was doing it to.

Haunted Mansion Conclusions

The actors portraying the roles that they did suited them for their specific character roles and I thoroughly enjoyed the film and what it represented. I think that it is also very clear what will happen between two unique characters in the film and also just as the film began …it ended the same way. The movie was made to illustrate that by coming together and forming a united front to salvage something that can be repaired and that is not lost can repair wounds that need healing – also, that helping others can also in turn, help yourselves. Service is a gift that everyone is capable of doing when someone is in need and should be done without compensation …but out of the goodness of one’s own heart & freely.
