When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu (Cailee Spaeny) meets Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi) , the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend.
The Young Ms. Presley
The actress who portayed the role of Priscilla Presley did a dynamite job – but I find it extremely hard to believe that she was that immature to keep accepting Elvis back in her life after he kept abusing her mentally, sometimes physically, and especially emotionally. Of course, no one but the two of them will ever know the TRUE and FULL extent of the abuse, but from what I saw in the 2 long hours of film, I saw more than enough to know that she stayed with Elvis for far too long before she decided to do something about it and leave him! Before she and Elvis got engaged, his nasty and vile, cheating ways began to come to light and she forgave and forgave …that is the one dreadful mistake that young innocent little girls make when they fall in love for the first time: they are too trusting!
Elvis & His Infidelities
What I assumed would happen …did … I do not want to be – or even sound stereotypical by saying that every musician does drugs and cheats on “their girl” because I know deep down in my heart that is simply NOT true and I know that you believe too. NOT every musician or man is alike. There are good men in the world just as there are good people overall in the world as our parents always tell us: “there are more pebbles on the beach; or more fish in the ocean.” And those phrases mean teh same thing – we have options if it does not work out. But in Priscilla & Elvis’s case, Elvis began cheating while he was courting her & after they wed. When she found a card written from another woman referring to him as Scoobie, she confronted him – and he went ballistic. Why cheat? What is the reason? Why get married and profess your undying love and commitment to another person if you will NOT be willing to keep it?
You’d think that Elvis’ home would have more sentimental value and a stronger connection to him than what he did in that home, but it did not seeing as this film was seen from Priscilla’s point of view so therefore I cannot say if this film was 100% truly based on true events – but it certainly felt like it to me and anyone who are fans of Elvis’and knew of his and her history can most certainly point out what is fact and what most certainly what is fiction when watching the film. I am sure that we can all agree that when we think of Elvis – we think of Graceland; we associate him along with it. I felt that he shoudl have given his home more repsect and placed more love and care in it and around around it. He never stopped to water Graceland and ensure its survival and that is why his family was torn apart but his actions and his behavior and he never took acountability ofr his actions. Again, this is MY perception from the film being told from the REAL Priscilla Presley.
In Closing to Elvis & Mrs. Presley …
Jacob Elordi did a flawless job of his portrayal as the King! So many yopung actors have taken on this role in films that I have seen about Elvis although this particular film was focused on his wife – I must say that he dressed the part, danced the part, looked the part, talked the part, and had MOST DEFINITELY had the HAIR part going on and the actress playing the main role of Priscilla did just a phenomal job as Jacob did and I would not be surprised if this films gets some Oscar nominations in! Great job to ALL involved!!!
