Film Synopsis of “Argylle” → A reclusive author, Elly Conway (Dallas Bryce Howard) who writes espionage novels about a Secret Agent & a global spy syndicate realizes the plot of the new book she’s writing starts to mirror real-world events …IN …REAL …TIME!
There Should Have Been a Larger RoleFor Dua Lipa’s LaGrange
I was very eagerly anticipating Dua Lipa’s role in the movie considering the trailer was all about her – well the first FULL 1 minute was and I WILL BURST YOUR BUBBLE: what you saw of Dua Lipa in the trailer for Argylle was EXACTLY what you will see in the ACTUAL movie! Pitiful! I mean “Argylle” is a movie that promises a thrilling ride through espionage, but does it deliver? The synopsis suggests a compelling plot where an author’s fictional story begins to mimic real-world events in real time. However, it’s not the only thing that promises to captivate audiences.
Take, for instance, Dua Lipa’s role in the film. The trailer teases viewers with her involvement for a good bit, but don’t be fooled. Her part is minuscule, with barely a minute on screen. It’s a disappointment, and it’s worth mentioning before diving into the movie’s review.
“Who Is the REAL Agent Argylle?”
The movie was filled with so many fascinating twists and turns, and zero predictability, that it was challenging to decipher who was truly undercover, a double agent, a secret agent, who you could NOT trust, and whom you could trust, etc. People were betraying people left and right. This truly was a spy movie, no doubt about that. We were led to believe that Henry Cavill was the Agent Argylle that Elly was writing about in her books, but once she wrote her final masterpiece, do you believe Cavill was the TRUE Argylle? When you do find out who the real Argylle is – I would like for you to ask yourselves this one question: “Did I guess it was this person – or was I right because I can back it up and prove that I was right?”
The Cat Lady
What was the epic symbolism with Elly and Alfie the cat? Do you believe that there was meaning to this in any sort of way? Why was she so protective of this cat so much? She was being called the defenseless cat lady for crying out loud! I will not ruin anything about the movie for you, but don’t you dare think that you have it figured out, because clues drop from every which way while watching it and just when you think you have solved, or you think you got it – you don’t! I will tell you something funny – as much as I enjoyed the film, it was starting to get on my nerves because I could not figure anything out! The smartest of the smartest might even have their mind blown once they see they keep hitting dead ends!
Argylle Conclusions
And what a review it is! “Argylle” is jam-packed with twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end. It’s a spy movie through and through, with double agents, secret agents, and betrayal at every turn. No one can be trusted, and the unpredictability is thrilling. The film leads us to believe that Henry Cavill is Agent Argylle, the protagonist of the author’s book. But as the story unfolds, we wonder if he’s the real deal. It’s a masterful stroke that keeps you engaged until the very end. I would love to say that it’s a mixture of playing Clue and Scrabble …both make you think and test your knowledge and how much you can trust your instincts and intuition.

I enjoyed watching it.. laughed until the very end 🤣
Also the songs within the movie 🤗🎶🎶🎶🎶
I agree with you – totally! The way that the background music was playing with the slow motion killing … super priceless! I did laugh my butt off too as well!
