Film Synopsis of “Trap” → A father, Cooper (Josh Hartnett), and his teenage daughter, Riley (Ariel Donoghue) attend a pop concert where they realize they’re at the center of a dark -and sinister event!
Why Get Trapped with Trap?
I found the movie to be quite disappointing. Even though M. Night Shyamalan is a talented director, but “Trap” failed to deliver the suspense and engaging storyline I had expected. The first 20-30 minutes were somewhat unique but ultimately uninteresting, and it was disheartening to see such potential go to waste. We all know that the main protagonist in the film is Josh Hartnett.
The Butcher Revealed Too Early ….and Too Soon!
The trailer for the film revealed the true identity of the Butcher, leaving little room for a surprise twist. This decision by the filmmaker to unveil the antagonist’s identity in advance detracted from the potential suspense and failed to deliver an anticipated plot twist. The disclosure in the trailer left little room for a compelling storyline to unfold, ultimately impacting the film’s overall experience. Would you want to trap yourself in a movie theater for 2 hours to see this after knowing what I have written this far? I would not blame you if you would – because I am guilty of doing the same thing because I wanted to see the film too myself – badly. I will give any film ONE opportunity of watching it once, while others deserve ZERO watches!
The Concert of Lady Raven
I still can’t get over the fact that everything & I do mean every little thing was given away in the trailer: what the film was about; who the killer was; what the plans for him were; etc. This should have gone directly to Amazon, Netflix, or on a bootleg somewhere or something! Seriously! Lady Raven was the bait used to capture him, and this was the only twist in the film that I did not see coming at all and this twist does not compensate for the entire film! NO WAY INDEED! Lady Raven did try to outsmart Cooper, but could anyone really outsmart a psycho? Come on now – those are the smartest ones!
Strange Behavior for Dad!
What father will be at a hip concert with his teenage daughter and see the secret entrance of where another performer is coming up from under the stage and ask his daughter who is paying attention to her favorite artist to go down there and see what is down there? A crazy person, am I right? Actor Josh Hartnett played the role of a crazed and toxic killer on the warpath who had lost all of his marbles and demonstrated that he was not all there the really disturbing part about the entire movie was that there were no flashbacks of his childhood revealing to the audience as to why he became known as The Butcher. If you are going to write a movie and tell a story – do it right and as accurately as possible!
This has so much potential. I cannot believe M. Night has given everything away so soon, in the trailer, no twist!? I’m used to his mind-blowing, holy crap moments in movies!!! I’ve heard others say it was not good. I’m bummed, I love M. Night… And glad to see Josh Hartnett again. He’s popped up on an episode of The Bear! I used to love him, hoping he stays for a while! ❤️
Perhaps, he should drop Shyamalan and just be known as Mr. Night and say Good Night to writing and definitely directing because I was very disappointed in the film but also agree very much so with you that the film had a lot of potential and was a thriller type themed film, but the thrills were not the chills that the audiences were looking for esp. me considering who he is and what his movies he are vastly known for.
