Film Synopsis of “Skincare” → Famed aesthetician Hope Goldman’s (Elizabeth Banks) skincare business faces sabotage when rival Angel Vergara (Luis Gerardo Méndez) opens a boutique across the street. Aided by friend, Jordan (Lewis Pullman), Hope seeks to uncover who’s trying to ruin her stellar reputation!
Skincare: Is It for Everyone?
People have often wondered why so many other people elect for plastic surgery; tummy tucks; penis enlargements; and a variety of medical procedures to make themselves look more appealing and sensual to the outside world to attract someone. For what purpose do you believe that is? If you say love and to find someone – you are DEAD WRONG! I did not have to watch this film in order to come to that conclusion. Let me explain further; in more depth you. In my candid opinion, individuals who spend thousands and perhaps even millions of dollars on these surgeries are not doing it to attract a man or a woman and they are not even doing it to make themselves look better in general. They are doing it for one reason – and one reason only. They want to feel better about themselves because they are not happy in their own skin, and they want to put on the facade of becoming someone else. Someone who they thought they could never be. They take the easy route and get surgeries to get rid of the fat rather than working hard at it and dieting and exercising which is free and costs nothing.
Beauty Is What You Make of It
When people see the poster for the film; I can only imagine that they will automatically program their minds to believe that the film is centered around a cosmetics line and nothing but cosmetics, makeup, and more makeup and you would be right, but there is a telling story behind that story that is crucial to Hope Goldman’s underlying message that she is trying to portray to the people watching the film and it’s so clear that you will not be able to miss it! It’s simply impossible to miss it! Skincare really demonstrates how far someone is willing to go to save their own “skin.”
…And So, It Begins …
Hope, when the film first came on, Hope Goldman was a real glamorous Superstar coming out with her own line of skincare products and then shortly after that, she began losing not only her clients, but her overall image and she felt as if her competition next door was sabotaging her merely based on circumstantial evidence and hunches. Hope began to feel that something or someone was not right & she had to do something about it because she was not going to let anything or anyone run her out of town. Do you know of someone who was brutally targeted to be a target of a hateful crime? Do you believe in the statemen/old saying of keep your friends close & your enemies closer? Do you agree with that? Do you live by it???
Is Beauty Is a Curse on the World?
We’ve all heard this at one point in our lives, yes? It’s not always all about looks. Beauty and skincare are more than just skin deep. Everyone wants to make all of these alterations to their look and appearance to look attractive like I have said in one of my earlier paragraphs, but honestly, as I have said, and I stand by it – they are doing it because they are not happy with themselves and if they are doing it to look more enticing; that is so disappointing. People should love and accept someone for who they are and not what someone else wants them to be. You cannot force change on someone – they either want to have it, or not. Plain & simple as that.
Is this a take on Mary Kay cosmetics!?? I hadn’t even heard of this movie before not a big marketing push.
This was an AMC Screen Unseen movie that I went to, and it was advertised, but you are correct – it was not advertised a lot. it is based on true events but had nothing to do with Mary Kay, no. But Elizabeth Banks delivered, and I think that you should find the time to watch this one! It is another one of your psychological thriller type of films! Trust me!
I still gotta watch “A simple Favor!” LOL
Correction. WE do – because it was MY idea for YOU and ME! How can we make that happen now, Dad? 😔
