The question we need to ask ourselves is this: at what point do we reach our limit and declare that today has been “one of them days”? What best friends Dreux and Alyssa experienced could easily happen to anyone. Their circumstances, while preventable, highlight the resilience we all possess in tough situations. Many can relate to the fear of eviction; even if it hasn’t happened to us, we can empathize with those facing it and understand the weight of a deadline for rent money. The challenge of seeking funds while preparing for a job interview tests our strength and determination. Though the specific events in the movie may seem dramatic, they remind us that even in difficult times, we can find the strength to rise above and redefine what a good day means to us.

When they walked into the loan office to secure a loan, the interest rate sign on the door was the highlight of the scene. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing; what kind of interest rate looks like that? It was so ridiculous that I nearly spat out my ICEE in laughter! And having Katt Williams appear in the film as a vagrant hanging out at the cash place was just the cherry on top!

Alyssa made the regrettable decision to give their rent money to her boyfriend, Keshawn, and that sent Dreux into a furious rage. She knew exactly what Keshawn was capable of, and she understood Alyssa’s potential all too well. Dreux recognized that Keshawn was merely using his looks and masculinity to manipulate girls into providing him with a place to stay, as he had no ambition of his own. It was clear to Dreux that Alyssa was far too intelligent to fall for his tricks.
