Film Synopsis of “Mean Girls” → Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is a hit with the Plastics, an A-List girl clique @ her new school when she makes the mistake of falling for Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), the ex-boyfriend of Alpha Plastic, Regina George (Reneé Rapp). Uh-oh, you all better WATCH OUT!
What and Who Are …Dare I Say it …Mean Girls?
In today’s society, yes, mean individuals MOST CERTAINLY do exist & they are not only just female, but they also come in another gender as well, male. We tend to think that females can be more brutal with their words and actions to prove their roughness, toughness, and hardcore exterior, but do you ever stop to think that they are only putting on an act to …belong or fit in to be a part of the cool group of “The Plastics?” Because that is what The Plastics are – fake and phony; not real. They are not being their true, genuine, and authentic selves. In Mean Girls, there was only truly 1 mean person, Regina George. She felt that she was deserving of whatever she wanted and whenever she wanted it, insulted her …as she called them her friends, bossed people around, and was the total Alpha-dominating person.
The Burn Book
What’s the actual purpose of keeping a record of people that you write hurtful and quite possibly damaging truths about people with a mixture of your hatred towards them for no good reason? Just for pure pleasure and out of spite? If you talk bad about someone, do you think that will make someone speak good about you? Hurting and bullying anyone brings nothing but turmoil along with hurt feelings, complicated resentment issues, and a slew of other emotions either party cannot stand to bear. They have the ACCURATE name for this book whoever invented it because that is what it should be and always be – BURNED! BURNED! BURNED!
Friends vs. Your Friends
Cady begins being this shy and nerdy little girl until Regina gets her hands on her and begins to transform her into her cult of Plastics. What begins as something innocent to get revenge on Regina and her minions as I like to call them because any person who CHOOSES to follow behind any person like a sad little ass puppy dog deserves to get treated as such because you must stand up and fight! NO one and I do mean NO one deserves to constantly be belittled and ridiculed just to be in the popular clique or to be safe in high school or anyone – not even for protection. Sorry. A friend does NOT treat someone who is truly your friend that way. Cady had friends in Damian and Janis, but she allowed herself to get sucked in by the shiny fame and glamour of that fake Plastic life playing a role ….the role Cady played ultimately and inadvertently became her reality as Regina George 2.o as I sadly call it.
“Crazy” Cady & “Amazing” Aaron in Mean Girls
The things that Cady did to gain Aaron’s attention in the film, Mean Girls were a little way out there, and I feel that she should not have done that to talk to him as he told her straight out. It was a bit …sweet and a goofy gesture, butt hat is what Cady admitted to Damian and Janis that she was goofy and not very experienced with boys. The situation with Regina and Aaron separating and her feeling that she could just use him any time she wanted for her pleasures and desires was beyond that of a mean girl – that was the actions of a heartless you know what!
Mean Girls Conclusions
Even though this was a trip back to the past to the 2004 film and was a musical the FIRST thing that I MUST say is that Reneé Rapp did a most outstanding job as Regina George in Mean Girls. If any movie needs an actress/musician to portray a role where they have a play a Momma Bear or an Alpha female – call Renee Rapp. She captured the screen with her beauty, vocals, wardrobe, everything …just as the character she portrayed! She gets a standing ovation from me! HANDS DOWN!
Something to Remember …
The movie illustrates one main point – and that is every deserves to be treated with dignity and with the utmost respect. Don’t make anyone else feel small so that you think that will make you feel bigger; I’ve got news for you …it won’t. If you have a conflict with someone, that is why you have a mouth, talk it through, talk TO each other, and NOT AT each other. Don’t plot and write vile and nasty things about people in a book and keep it like a yearbook. What purpose does that have? Choose to uplift …to love …to care…to support! Don’t Be Mean Girls …Be Queen Girls!
Beautifully said! But, I have to acknowledge Auli’i who was a stand out to me as Janice! “Burn The World” IS one of the best musical numbers, and “I’m fine!” Dance scene was awesome! So, yeah I think they did a GREAT job transferring the Broadway musical to The Big Screen!
I never had the pleasure of seeing this on Broadway, but I am glad that I did not because if I was sitting in the Front Row, I probably would NOT be plastic and want to hit or throw something on Regina for treating people the way that she did and karma is a BEAST and what goes around comes back around! Thanks for the comment!
I’ve been wondering how this was going to hold up to the original!! Sounds like I need to see it!!! The first is a classic! Thx Travis! Sorry I’m so behind. It’s been a crazy month and a half. Xo
My Dearest NON-Plastic Amy…
Because you are far from fake my Sweet Love – the movie was very insightful and entertaining and of course teaches a lesson about how to demand respect and how not to take verbal abuase just to be cool or fit in with the cool clique. Just catch up until you can fully catch up. And there is someone from the orignal movie in this one!
Thanks for the review Travis. I hope to see this one next week, and promise not to be mean!
Oh, please, the MEANER …the FATTER you get because revenge is a dish best served when you never see it coming! 😂😂😂
