Film Synopsis of “It Ends with Us“→ Adapted from the gripping Colleen Hoover novel, “It Ends with Us” delves into the powerful story of Lily (Blake Lively) who triumphs over a traumatic past to carve out a new existence. A fateful encounter with neurosurgeon Dr. Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) ignites a spark. Still, as their connection deepens, Lily begins to confront unsettling similarities between Ryle and her own parents’ troubled relationship. Is this merely coincidence, or a sign of something more profound at play?
Does Love Look Like Sheer Coincidences …All the Time?
Is time a healer of all wounds? Do you believe this to be true? I’m talking about relationships in trouble, especially those involving verbal or physical abuse. In nearly half of these cases, the woman is the victim but stays out of fear. Leaving seems scarier than enduring abuse. This reality is heartbreaking as it happens in the world. It’s important to remember that men can also be victims. Verbal abuse is just as harmful as physical abuse, and nobody is immune to it. Jennifer Lopez’s film “Enough” comes to mind while watching “It Ends with Us”. Lopez’s character took a stand against her abusive ex-husband. Her main goal wasn’t physical fighting, but to show him that she wouldn’t tolerate his abuse. Sometimes you have to assert yourself in a way the other person understands. Ultimately, nobody knows you better than yourself.
Ryle vs. Atlas
Is 2 WORTHY men feuding over ONE woman WORTH fighting for a good thing? PAY attention and re-read all the words in that question one more time – but pay attention to ONLY the words that are in ALL CAPS. In “It Ends with Us” do you believe that Ryle and Atlas will be worthy of Lily’s love? This film was so predictable whether you read the book or not. Ryle admitted to staying in the “lust and sex zone” and he did not have relationships when he met Lily. But what was it about her that made him want to try something with her that he had never tried before? Then we have Atlas, her first love which was a complicated situation, but it was real, authentic, genuine, and everything that a real relationship should and must be based on.
Lily “Blossom” Bloom
I completely agree with Ryle when he and Lily had their first encounter. It seems like her parents must have loved flowers to name her after them. When Lily mentioned her obsession with flowers and her dream to open her flower shop, I was genuinely surprised. It was a delightful touch to the story. The introduction of Allysa coming to look for a job while trying to get her flower shop open was hilarious. She came into the shop all extra and over the top, but eventually became friends with Lily and became very protective of her. Their relationship blossomed just like flowers, which tied in with the theme of the film throughout.
Blooming Out
I think that we all already know how the film ends & I don’t usually give out spoilers unless it is painfully clear – and if the trailer/s gives it away in a clear manner, but I always still try to be a little clever in my reviews to try and not spoil anything because that is what I am known for. In the trailer, we can see and hear Lily say, “What if you had a daughter and she came to you and said she had a boyfriend that was hitting her? What would you say to her?” She did not want that type of life for her child if she had children; she wanted it to end with them; her and Ryle (the title of the film; so PERFECT…). She chose to put a stop to it and ended it with them right then and there. Not every woman can find that inner strength and courage to leave. Every person has it; it’s in them; it’s in YOU.
MY ADVICE TO ANYONE: Whether you have a support system in place/family/friends. YOU can do it! NEVER stay in any type of abusive relationship out of fear you will get seriously killed or injured. Get out. Living in constant fear every day is more dangerous than living with the unknown not knowing when or if something more dangerous could happen and when an innocent child gets involved …that makes matters so much worse.
I never understand staying in a miserable situation if it’s violent get out! Colleen is from East Texas she was at the theatre in Tyler during opening weekend! A movie for a Saturday afternoon I love Blake Lively even if she’s getting crap right now she’s still a brilliant actress…Age of Adeline anyone!?!
Yes. Blake Lively is a terrific actress. Her smile just captivates me by itself and on its own. She is very radiant! I love her. The movie was not all about physical abuse as you would think. Watch it and see if you think so and let me know and then we can discuss on that …
Definitely will! You know I LOVE a good movie conversation!
Indeed I do!!!
