Report Card Grade & Review

Cole & Dom

These two actors, known for their incredible on-screen chemistry, truly brought their characters to life. Andrew Rannells, who is openly gay in real life, and his co-star seamlessly connected in a way that made their performances utterly believable. From the very beginning, I found myself laughing hysterically, thoroughly entertained until the credits rolled.

In this engaging dark comedy, the narrative centers around the couple’s deep desire to become parents, and they always say to each other that they never “understand you” signifying that they are constantly learning something new about their marriage while being on vacation in Italy. Their opportunity arises when they encounter a young mother who is struggling to provide for her child, feeling overwhelmed by the responsibilities of parenthood. As the story unfolds, these two lively characters step in, determined to offer love and stability.

Balancing The Humor Out

The film masterfully balances humor with poignant moments, highlighting the couple’s outrageous antics as they tackle the complexities of parenthood. It’s an uplifting journey that guarantees to boost your spirits and instill optimism, even in the toughest of times. From the outset, it’s clear that, despite facing various challenges, the couple approaches them with a unique and humorous perspective, making the film an even more enjoyable experience for audiences.

Slurred Speech

During their time in Italy, neither of them could fully grasp the language, only catching a few scattered words from the lively conversations around them. It was uproariously comical how they misinterpreted one completely innocent word, believing it to have a dark, morbid connotation! Oh, you simply have to see it to appreciate the sheer absurdity! It wasn’t just like watching a ridiculous spoof; it felt more like stumbling upon a chaotic series of unexpected “freak accidents.” The way people seemed to meet their demise in such absurd circumstances was oddly amusing. Oh my goodness, it’s delightfully demented!

Understand You

Understand You?

Understanding people and the emotions they experience is essential, and bottling up feelings is never the right choice. This was especially true for Dom and Cole. One of them communicated openly, directly, and honestly, while the other often masked his feelings and shied away from discussing his anxieties about parenthood. Despite being a comedy, the film tackled significant and profound issues with a blend of humor and seriousness, making the message all the more impactful.
