Film Synopsis of “Blink Twice “→ When tech Billionaire, Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress, Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, he invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his very secluded & private island. As strange occurrences begin to happen, Frida questions her reality!
Blink Twice …IF You’re In Danger!
There was undeniably peril on Slater King’s Island. It went beyond mere danger – it was a situation I had not anticipated. The decision to change the film title from “Pussy Island” to “Blink Twice” was completely justified. The phrase “Blink Twice” was used repeatedly in the film, yet its significance eluded me. Despite the characters uttering it, there was no assistance forthcoming, nor did anyone blink. The film was commendable for its unpredictability. Zoe Kravitz’s interviews shed light on the film’s underlying theme of exposing the abuse of power by men, who feel entitled to exploit others without facing repercussions. This powerful message highlights that no one can wield power over you unless you allow it. If you feel powerless, remember, reclaiming your power is within your grasp if your will is resolute enough.
Wake Up!! Wake Up!! Wake Up!!
I couldn’t believe it – Frida was so delusional that she couldn’t distinguish reality from illusion. She knew something wasn’t right, but she was financially struggling and just wanted to escape and distract herself. When Sir Master Slater King entered her life, she didn’t consider her best friend’s feelings or her instincts about the island. Slater claimed they didn’t have to do anything they didn’t want to, but then why did they have to surrender their cell phones upon arrival? If everyone else did, why did they have to as well? It’s important to stand up for yourself and say no. You never have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable, regardless of what someone says or does to manipulate you. It’s all about power and control. The film is essentially about manipulation and power games.
Taking Back the Control
Men are not the only ones who have power. I don’t like it when there are stereotypes in the world that say men are more powerful, because both sexes can be universal if not equal. Everyone in the world should not only be respected but also seen and treated as equals. For Slater King and his group of men who got onto the island, it was all about gaining what men have the hardest time getting, so they decided to come up with a way to get it over and over without asking. I know you all know where I am going with this, and I am trying not to reveal all the details about the movie, but I am so impressed with the entire plot of the film. When it reaches the climax, it will blow your mind and rock your world to the extent that it may bring tears to your eyes!
Frida & Slater’s New Island?
Do you think that Frida seeks revenge on Slater for what he did to all of the ladies that came to his island think that they would have a lovely and therapeutic time of relaxation? Does she turn the tables on him? Does she survive? There are so many dangerous and life-changing moments and twists and turns in this wild ride that you will not even believe but it is so much bigger than what you are expecting! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the film & never like saying this about a movie that is centered around violence and power but if the final message is powerful – then I am A-OK saying it.
Damn, so it’s that deep? Can’t wait to watch it!
Yeah – it goes way beyond just an island ….
I was pleasantly surprised. Completely hooked from the beginning to end.
Were you really? From beginning to end? You couldn’t figure anything out?
This review leaves excitement in which we were not expecting, a movie that we were possibly thinking of being one way, and it turned out something totally different. Leaving the mind to explore countless other possibilities. In all things, when you want to do something, there is a price for playing the game, it’s all about are you willing to play the game or not.
Thanks, Jerry –
It does leave you with many emotions – excitement not being one of them once you conclude what’s happening on Slater’s very mysterious island that he is using for one specific purpose. I do agree 100% with you that the choices that we make directly affect us either negatively or positively. It is all about whether we choose to play the game or not.
Channing playing a villian!?!!? Whaaaat !?! I’m guessing based on the original name what it’s all about! I’ll add it to must see when it drops on streaming!
Yeah! I was very surprised that he was playing a villain myself – but every actor wants to play different roles at some point in their career. He did outdo himself in this film and yes …you will see why it was originally named, “Pussy Island” after watching it! TRUST ME!
I’ll update you after I watch it but it might be a bit
I am very much aware of that – I will make a mental note to remember when that time comes!
