“TRUST” … Can It Ever Be Truthfully Discussed … or Is It Simply Unjust?

TRUST” Plot: A Hollywood actress, Lauren Lane (Sophie Turner), hides in a remote cabin after a scandal, only to find herself betrayed and fighting for survival against someone she once trusted, Peter (Billy Campbell).

Who or What Can You Trust?

I firmly believe that trusting your instincts is an invaluable skill and an important trait to cultivate. Throughout our lives, we often feel disappointed in the decisions we make when those choices don’t yield the results we hoped for. In the case of Lauren, a once-renowned actress known for her exceptional talent and captivating performances, she found herself needing a break from the spotlight.

During this time away, she sought to deeply reflect on the choices she had made throughout her career and the path her life had taken. It was a period for her to confront the implications of her decisions—those that she made freely and independently, without external pressures. This retreat into a remote area provided her with the space and solitude necessary for introspection.

Who or What Can You Trust?

Taking a step back from her hectic lifestyle, Lauren found a precious opportunity to engage in deep soul-searching. This reflective period allowed her to delve into her identity, exploring her past experiences, current feelings, and the person she aspired to become. As she pondered these questions, she also evaluated her relationship with Peter, considering whether her unwavering trust in him was justified or if it might be misplaced.

Throughout this transformative journey, Lauren began to reassess her life and its current trajectory. She reflected on her past choices, recognizing patterns and determining what truly mattered to her. This intense self-reflection empowered her to identify her core values and aspirations more clearly. Ultimately, she emerged from this soul-searching process with a renewed sense of clarity, ensuring that her future decisions would not only be guided by her instincts but would also align with her authentic self and long-term goals.

Where Is She?

We were led to believe this was another intense, bone-chilling thriller, but it falls flat. The truth is, the plot is far more thrilling and suspenseful than the actual movie. While Turner delivered a strong performance, the relationship between Marcus, played by Gianni Paolo, and the secluded cabin is incredibly unclear. The audience is left guessing about how he acquired the cabin and what exactly his connection to it is, which is simply unacceptable. I firmly detest films that require us to act as detectives until the very end, only to leave crucial aspects unresolved. It’s frustrating and undermines the viewing experience.

Female Empowerment

This film powerfully illustrates the incredible strength and resilience of women as they tackle life-threatening and challenging situations. Sophie Turner delivers a strong performance that embodies the essence of female empowerment, showcasing determination and grit. However, the movie ultimately lacks substance and isn’t worth the trip to a theater—unless, of course, you’re simply looking for a place to snooze for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
