Film Synopsis of “The Strangers: Chapter One” → A young couple, Maya (Madelaine Petsch) & Ryan (Froy Gutierrez) drives cross-country toward a new beginning; unfortunately, they have no choice but to stop in a secluded Air B-N-B in Oregon & endure a night of pure terror against 3 masked strangers!

The Strangers

Ryan & The Nail in Maya’s Hand

Picsart 24 05 07 10 52 21 314 minIt is perplexing why happy couples frequently encounter deranged, psychopathic individuals who harbor inexplicable homicidal intentions. Why can’t a happy, loving, peaceful couple simply enjoy a weekend getaway, or celebrate their love without being targeted by masked vigilantes, despite their innocence and the sole offense of being happy and in love? It is illogical and lacks a suitable term in the human lexicon to describe such behavior. This couple sought a romantic weekend getaway, but instead, they were subjected to an undeserved encounter with The Strangers. I feel horrible saying this was a good movie seeing and knowing what happened to them both! Once this couple plans an escape & a nail gets caught nail gets caught in your hand – and you want to scream and can’t ….

“Is Tamara Here?”

Picsart 24 05 07 10 48 20 102 minIn the context of horror films, particularly “The Strangers,” it is generally advisable not to answer knocks at the door, especially at night and in secluded areas. Instead, it is recommended to communicate through the door and utilize the peephole to assess the situation. This approach prioritizes safety and aligns with common sense precautions. In the specific instance mentioned, where an individual repeatedly inquiries about “Tamara” while Maya & Ryan both are in a secluded location, it would be prudent to exercise caution and refrain from opening the door unnecessarily. They are victims to the oldest scam there is: to get them frustrated to open the door so that The Strangers can pounce on them! DUH! Think people!!! Sometimes, the most common-sense answers are right there in front of us – whether they be in a feature film or real life we sometimes choose the wrong ones, but we think they are harmless and the right ones. Trusting our instincts is such an invaluable tool we have that we need to use more often.

Strange & Secluded Horror

Picsart 24 05 07 10 50 42 281 minThe setting of the movie follows a familiar pattern, with the protagonists finding themselves in a secluded home or cabin, far from any civilization. Maya and Ryan are trapped in this isolated location, facing relentless killers determined to eliminate them.

Before the movie began, a written statement appeared, highlighting the prevalence of vigilante violence and the shocking statistics of innocent individuals being brutally killed every few seconds. This sobering message resonated deeply, prompting reflection on the importance of addressing and ending unnecessary violence.

The Lasting Effects of a Brutal Attack by the Strangers

Picsart 24 05 07 10 54 13 928 minWhat kind of long-lasting effects – or trauma could anyone has IF they were to survive a brutal attack of this sort? I can only imagine how I would feel. I don’t know how long or what it could take to calm me down or get me to sleep through the night combined with therapy, medication, and a slew of other combinations if I were attacked by wild masked vigilantes for no apparent reason at all whatsoever. That is why I always try to respect everyone and show people the kind of respect & generosity I’d want them to reciprocate back to me, but in all honesty; we all know full well to be innocent people and do everything right & treat everyone right still does not make us immune to victimization as it was clearly demonstrated in every The Strangers film esp. this one with the characters of Maya & Ryan. What did they do wrong? Nothing. Nothing. At. All.

I’m at the theatre right now!!! Glad you liked it! Wondering how close to the original is gonna be. The first one actually scared the holy doo doo out of me!! I loved it! I’ll RT when I’m home 😁

    1. So, glad you LOVED it just like me! What was your favorite part of the film ? Did you stay for the mid-credit scene? What did you think of that ending?

  2. Amy

Well, Kid #2 really liked it. I found myself comparing it to the first one. (which is a favorite). Like I went out to the car and checked my backseat before driving home. I do not scare easily. Curious with the ending though… I was shocked at the hospital scene, like whaaat!?

    1. With you, I al always confused – you said you checked hte back seat of your car and then you said that you DO NOT scare easily. If you do not scare easily then why check your back seat? LOL! And yes, I felt the same way as you did about the end in the hospital!!!

  3. Amy

I don’t scare easy!! At all!! That movie got to me!! LMAO!! I’d say my biggest fear, esp after having children, is a home invasion. Esp when hubby was in the army and in Iraq for a year at a time.

    1. Yeah, that is a scary thought in itself actually!

  4. Josh Carpenter

So is this a prequel of some sorts!? Sorry – but I’m not going to some seclusive place and opening up doors to strangers! Creepy masks!

    1. Duh! Exactly, but you know just as well as I that you have to do that or the movie will be 20 minutes! You gotta do the dumb stuff, but in REAL LIFE, hell no!
