“
The Home” Plot: Max (Pete Davidson), a troubled man, starts working at a retirement home and realizes its residents and caretakers harbor sinister secrets. As he investigates the building and its forbidden fourth floor, he begins to uncover connections to his past and upbringing as a foster child!
The Funeral/s
The film certainly pushed the boundaries of craziness and insanity, creating a truly unique viewing experience. While I found myself puzzled by many aspects, it felt reminiscent of a complex Jordan Peele film, known for its over-the-top and convoluted storytelling. In contrast to his movies, I could generally follow the plot of “The Home,” although I often struggled to connect the dots between scenes as the narrative unfolded.
“The Home” leaned more toward being a psychological thriller rather than a conventional horror flick, which I appreciated. It delved into deeper themes that may require some critical thinking to unpack. I believe my friend Joshua, who excels at deciphering intricate films, would have valuable insights into the hidden messages within this movie. I hope he has the chance to watch it so we can discuss its nuances.
The climax, marked by a character’s funeral, left me contemplating the events without fully grasping them, which I found intriguing. While I enjoy films that subvert expectations, I also prefer a storyline that remains relatively coherent. In this case, I felt the challenging nature of the narrative might have hindered the overall experience for some viewers.
The Fourth Floor
It’s unusual to see actor Pete Davidson in a horror film, especially since he’s primarily known for his comedic roles. Surprisingly, he delivered a strong performance that truly stands out. The events on Floor 4 are nothing short of extraordinary! I must warn you that what you’re about to see is graphic, vile, and disturbing. You should make sure to indulge in your concessions during the first 30 minutes of the movie. After that, proceed at your own risk, as the imagery is likely to make you feel nauseous. If you’re squeamish, brace yourself. If you can handle it, then great—more power to you! What happens to the individuals on the 4th Floor is beyond comprehension, and you won’t catch any glimpse of it in the trailer. Prepare yourself for what’s coming!
Dr. Sabian
You might assume that you can always trust and confide in a doctor, but the situation with Dr. Sabian in the movie challenges that notion. Throughout the film, he presents a multifaceted character whose true intentions are ambiguous. At first glance, he may seem like a reliable figure, but as the story unfolds, the viewer is left questioning whether that trust is warranted.
While I won’t give away any spoilers, it’s clear that Dr. Sabian plays a significant role in the lives of the patients at the Home, particularly to Max. His interactions suggest he has the best interests of his patients at heart—at least initially. However, as the plot develops, it becomes evident that there are deeper layers to his character. What seems to be a straightforward approach to caring for his patients ultimately reveals a more complicated, perhaps darker side.
So, as the narrative progresses, it becomes increasingly difficult to determine whether Dr. Sabian is truly one of the good guys or if his actions and motivations hide a more sinister truth. The film keeps you guessing, prompting you to think critically about trust, authority, and the complexities of human behavior.
Is Payback An Absolute?
As the movie draws to a dramatic close, Max finds himself standing at a crossroads, grappling with a challenging moral dilemma. On one hand, there’s the primal urge that stirs within us all when we feel wronged—the fierce desire for immediate justice and retribution against those who have harmed us. On the other hand, Max must consider the path of allowing the legal system to take its course, with all its complexities and uncertainties.
What does TRUE payback entail? Is it an absolute right that can restore balance, or is it a fleeting illusion that often leads to further chaos? Can it ever be truly justified? In moments of deep anguish, do we sometimes feel that we have no choice but to take the law into our own hands, driven by a desperate need for retribution? These questions linger in the air as Max contemplates his next move, shaping the film’s haunting finale.
Well now …. I gotta watch it! LOL! When it hits streaming I’ll watch it so we can talk about it! It’ll be interesting to see Pete in something diffferent than he’s done!
I truly hope that you can get to witness this brutal massacre in all of its epic glory very soon, so that you and I can discuss! Looking forward to it! Thanks for reading!
