Film Synopsis of “Knox Goes Away” → When a contract killer (Michael Keaton) has a rapidly evolving form of dementia, he is offered an opportunity to redeem himself by saving the life of the adult son (James Marsden) with whom he had been estranged.
Let’s Not Delay …You’re Being Sent Away!
The premise of the film has a very befitting title because Knox goes away, indeed. When you stop to think about how ironic the film title is as it relates to Knox we can ascertain that his mind is vastly fading, and he needs help adjusting to normal life because he is losing his grip on reality and his dementia is getting worse with each passing day not to even mention week. The movie does have a “killer” plot to it. Think about it: a hitman whose job for a living is to kill people and stage the crime scenes in a certain manner all while losing your mind. Doesn’t that sound entice? How would you treat someone if they had declining health? Would you simply toss them to someone else to take care of?
It’s A Family Affair -I’m Telling You I Swear!!!
The premise of the film has a very unique dynamic regarding the family with Knox and his son, Miles. They were estranged for some time until a particular situation occurred where he needed his father’s expertise and his certain “set of skills.” I swear I felt like Liam Neeson or at least could hear him as I was writing that line from Taken. Lol! Miles never wanted to be like his father growing up, but in one scene that they shared when they were having dinner at the Diner, he told him something true. When you stop to think about it, it is – it may not be as true as Knox, but it was still true, nonetheless. Knox’s ex-wife still had a very special place in her heart for him, but as all couples have: that love/hate relationship where love just isn’t enough to stay and try to make a relationship work.
The Top Three
3 very specific people in the movie are pivotal when Knox goes away. Do you know how many people try to take advantage of someone when their health is failing and have no one to love and take care of them and they have to look for “temporary love” elsewhere and just when you think that person has an ounce of feelings or even a morsel of conscience, they turn on you on a dime? Well, that happens to poor Knox. I felt so sorry for him to have to go through that. Watching his memory fade like this, I thought that he was faking all of this, I ain’t gonna even lie to you because some movie will trick you like that. Do you think that I am doing that right now, do you?
Knox’s Closing Conclusions
The movie taught me a very serious reminder of what I already know. When your family is in distress …just do not rest! Do what you can do to support them. Don’t just toss them aside & let some stranger take care of them. Especially if they are your parents. That is just not right, but with Knox – his situation was very peculiar, so he had to be in the predicament that he was in. There probably are options for Knox …but the way that the film ended was sadly appropriate – that’s all I say. Knox, Knox …away …away …
