Film Synopsis of “Carry-On“→ A mysterious traveler (Jason Bateman) blackmails a young TSA Agent (Taron Edgerton) into letting a dangerous package slip through Security & onto a Christmas Day flight!
“Carry-On” Carries On
I’ve heard that this movie is similar to Die Hard, but I didn’t see many similarities. The only common elements are the Christmas theme and a terrorist in the airport trying to get a suspicious piece of luggage through a TSA checkpoint. The film isn’t filled with action, and Taron Edgerton gave an average performance. While the movie can keep your attention, it isn’t great, so putting it on Netflix instead of in theaters was a good choice. I wanted to see the film because I liked the premise, the two main actors, and the overall story.
TSA Professional Ethan Kopek
Ethan was a TSA agent who seemed to be struggling to find fulfillment in his job scanning carry-on bagggage. As he sat through the debriefing about expectations for one of the busiest days of the year—Christmas—it was clear that he was feeling disheartened. Many people can relate to the sense of uncertainty and yearning for more purpose that Ethan experienced before the film’s action began. He longed for greater responsibilities and a chance for promotion, but deep down, his true passion lay in pursuing a career as a police officer through the academy.
Patience In The LAX Bathroom
It’s unusual for a movie’s villain to be revealed so early in the story, but it can happen—and it does here. While this choice can diminish suspense and intrigue, the film still delivers surprising twists and entertaining moments. Even though the early reveal takes away some of the mystery, there are plenty of engaging elements that keep viewers hooked. One standout scene is the bathroom interaction between Bateman and Edgerton, which is genuinely hilarious. It’s not an everyday occurrence in films, and it certainly adds a memorable touch!
Should You Carry-On or Make A Change?
It’s understandable to feel stuck in a role that doesn’t resonate with your aspirations. However, when the antagonist in the film, played by Jason Bateman, threatened the lives of innocent people from his carry-on demand, Ethan found the strength within himself to rise to the occasion and make a difference, showcasing his true potential and heroism. Do you think that you have that type of inner strength and courage to change something in your life if you are not feeling self full-filled? Does someone have to push you – or are you your self-motivator to …make that change?
I’m down to watch it still!
I mean, it’s not terrible – and some movies deserve at least ONE watch, whereas I feel that this particular one deserves at least one watch!
