Julian, a young boy, was not very kind to others, specifically Auggie from the 2017 film “Wonder,” which “White Bird” is a sequel to. Julian’s behavior towards Auggie caused him to feel ashamed and embarrassed at school. Julian realized that the same level of mistreatment can have consequences, and the hurtful feelings one inflicts on others can come back as payback or punishment. During a conversation with his grandmother, Julian expressed his desire to find a balance between being kind and assertive, without wanting to cause harm to anyone. He acknowledged the importance of embracing kindness as an integral part of his true and honest nature, without feeling defeated.

When Sara was describing to her grandson the acts of kindness and the torment she endured as a Jewish person, and the selfless acts of the Beaumier Family to keep her safe from brutal attacks and killings, I truly believe there is no other story that can illustrate such a pure and true act of kindness. What this family did for Sara was nothing short of astounding and deeply moved me. It’s not every day that one witnesses such a miraculous act of kindness. I won’t go into detail, but you have to see it to believe it!

That is what this movie demonstrated for me! Showing someone that you care is free. Show everyone love and humanity. The world is filled already with so much hatred and violence – let’s all try to aim to become better human beings and show more kindness to everyone as we show to ourselves!
