Report Card Grade & Review

The Fog of War

Being a parent is an incredibly daunting endeavor. The responsibility of protecting your child feels like an insurmountable challenge, while the act of loving them is both effortless and instinctual. Yet, when faced with a situation where your child’s safety hangs in the balance, such as a kidnapping connected to your line of work, whether it be with a covert agency or a government position, how would you respond? Would you grapple with feelings of guilt, questioning your role in the peril your child faces?

In such a desperate moment, would you rely on the skills you’ve acquired to navigate the treacherous landscape of a crisis? Do you believe these skills would serve as a guiding light to help you rescue your child, or could they complicate matters further, clouding your judgment?

Team Shadow Force

In the film, Shadow Force, the two main protagonists, Kyrah and Isaac, find themselves estranged from one another, yet they are irresistibly drawn back together by their unwavering and deep-rooted love for their son, Alex. Their relationship is fraught with tension due to past grievances, but they are united by a shared vow: to always protect and shield Alex from harm, no matter the obstacles they may encounter along the way.

Mr. Jack Cinder

This situation raises an intriguing question: Are Kyrah and Isaac the true embodiment of the Shadow Force, or does the legacy belong to the entire team that once operated under that name? The antagonist, played by Mark Strong, believes that the original Shadow Force was corrupted and seeks vengeance for an incident stemming from Kyrah and Isaac’s actions—an event that was beyond their control and something they could not have anticipated or fought against. This complex dynamic sets the stage for a gripping narrative that explores themes of loyalty, redemption, and the lengths parents will go to protect their child from an imperfect world.

Lionel Richie Lives!

This idea holds deep sentimental value for Kyrah, Isaac, and their son, Ky. While I won’t disclose the significance of Lionel Richie’s music in the film, you’ll find that when it plays, it evokes an immediate reflection on this paragraph. You’ll think to yourself, “This is what Travis meant and why he included it in his review.” The young actor who portrayed their son was an absolute delight, radiating charm and humor that could effortlessly lighten your mood, even on the darkest of days. That little boy truly elevated the movie experience! I assure you, I’m not exaggerating! Even if you don’t have children, after witnessing how fabulous he is on screen, you might find yourself yearning for a child just like him to call your own!
