Sometimes …Sorry Just Isn’t Quite Enough ‘Ole Sport
Usually, when someone commits wrongdoing, if they possess both a heart and a conscience, they will seek out the individuals they have hurt. They will show genuine remorse for their actions, often leading to a heartfelt apology, and in doing so, they pave the way for forgiveness. It’s a relatively simple process, right? However, Eddie’s situation is far more complicated. Driven by desperation for quick cash, he chooses to prey on innocent people, resorting to theft in the fastest way possible.
In a moment of reckless decision-making, he makes a grave error: he breaks into a vehicle, unknowingly crossing a line he can’t simply apologize for, and walks away. Almost instantaneously, Eddie discovers the harsh reality that actions have consequences. Trapped inside the vehicle, he finds himself at the mercy of someone else’s authority and learns a painful and profound lesson about vulnerability and responsibility that he never anticipated. The weight of his choices becomes all too clear as he grapples with the fear and uncertainty of his predicament.
Locked With A Taste of Hell Inside!!!
The owner of the DOLUS that Eddie broke into was intentionally setting a trap, a fact that Eddie was completely unaware of at the time of the break-in. Desperate for quick cash, he was searching for something valuable to steal, hoping to pawn it for immediate funds to meet his needs. However, his actions were not only illegal but also morally wrong.
In a darker twist of fate, the owner, William, employed highly unorthodox and deeply unethical methods. He used his vehicle not just as a mode of transportation but as an instrument of torture, inflicting pain and punishment on individuals who crossed his path. William took a perverse delight in witnessing their torment, pushing them to their limits to prove a point about their supposed moral failings. In his distorted perspective, he believed these individuals were “screwed up” in some way.
Being Controlled, Manipulated, and YES …Locked!
Yet, the irony was stark: William was just as toxic, if not more so, as he manipulated and exploited others to serve his agendas. His actions revealed a sick and twisted personality, one that thrived on the suffering of others while failing to recognize his moral corruption. Ultimately, his need for control and power over others was a reflection of his own deeper issues, making the entire situation a disturbing cycle of abuse and manipulation. If anyone needed to be locked up anywhere, it would be William if I had my choice! He was so deranged just like in Silence of the Lambs!
What Does “Locked” Teach Us?
It’s unacceptable for any individual to booby trap their vehicle in an attempt to force those they deem criminals to change their ways or to punish them. Both parties in such a scenario share blame, but the aggressor is even more culpable, as they are no better than those they target. The movie was compelling, yet it also showcased some disturbingly sick and twisted actions, particularly what William inflicted on Eddie and what Eddie subjected himself to. The scene where Eddie needed to hydrate—and what he had to drink—was downright revolting and difficult to watch.
